FC Valencia Co-Founder & Club President

In collaboration with Charles Martinez and Justin & Susan Lundin, Claudia is a co-founder of FC Valencia.  She is the Chief Executive Officer for the Board of Directors of the FCV, generally supervising, directing and managing the business of the Club, taking the lead to initiate and implement policies, as needed.

Believing that decision-making in youth sports must focus upon “quality over quantity,” Claudia is steadfast that communication among the players/parents, coaches and Club administration must be the cornerstone of FC Valencia in carrying forth its important and unique developmental vision.

Living, breathing and experiencing all aspects of the competitive youth soccer landscape for nearly 18 years and passionate about volunteering, Claudia previously served on the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Futbol Club/LAFC Chelsea/Flyers Soccer Club and the Crescenta Valley Soccer Club; the Santa Clarita Blue Heat (United Soccer Leagues/W-League Semi -Pro team) as Media Director and Team Manager; in addition to volunteering as Flotilla Information Officer for two years with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Her experience, both administratively and as a single working parent of a highly motivated Club and college soccer player over the years, imminently qualifies her to handle those sneaky “soccer emergencies” as well as all aspects of Club administration and operations.

In addition, Claudia works full-time in her “retirement job” at College of the Canyons, as the Chief of Staff (Special Assistant) to Chancellor Dianne Van Hook, an exciting and fulfilling position within one of the top community college institutions in California.  Before that, she was fortunate to be in a position to take an early retirement from the City of Los Angeles, culminating a career spanning some 29-years in a variety of legislative, policy, administrative and community engagement arenas.  Claudia worked in Executive Management positions throughout the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment, Office of the City Clerk, Los Angeles Police Department, Community Development and Housing Departments, to name a few.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from UCLA, a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Administration from California State University, Long Beach, and is a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha Public Administration Society.

Claudia and Charles met as a result of competitive youth soccer and recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.  They have four adult children between them, and two small granddaughters, of one of whom is already kicking around a ball and squealing:  “GOOOAAL!!!”

“Somewhere behind the athlete you’ve become and the hours of practice and the coaches who have pushed you, is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back……play for her!”   ~~ Mia Hamm

Mark Snyder
FC Valencia VP & Director of Digital Solutions

FCV-MDS-640x480pxMark brings to FC Valencia a broad range of digital marketing and business experience. Along with directing the digital strategy for FC Valencia, Mark works along with the other executive board members by establishing processes, short and long term goals, and overall key objectives needed to establish FC Valencia as one of Southern California’s premier soccer clubs.

“I grew up playing soccer in recreational youth programs around the Pasadena area, but never took it too seriously. It wasn’t until my own children got involved that my passion ignited. After seeking additional training and participating in many local programs, I quickly learned the importance of quality coaching. My appetite to learn more about soccer, player development, and training grew. After a friend introduced me to Charles and Claudia Martinez I knew instantly that I had found what we were seeking. Already in the early stages of starting a soccer club, I knew that I could use my business experience to help them and the other board members move the process along. As our team came together, we worked diligently for the next year. In late 2013, FC Valencia officially came to light and was welcomed into CalSouth (sanctioning body). Shortly thereafter, we began forming teams to play in the Southern California Developmental Soccer League (SCDSL). It’s been an amazing journey and the experience has been very rewarding.”

Mark’s shown that entrepreneurial spirit since a young man. Establishing his first Internet related business in the mid 90’s. Mark co-founded a managed services company that specialized in IT services and support. The start-up grew quickly and after 6 years had profitable offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Warsaw Poland. After 10 years and acquisitions, Mark left to begin a new company that would specialize in eCommerce & web consulting. VPGlobal Interactive is headquartered here in Valencia where they been successfully evolving retailers and merchants with their growing initiatives.

Mark lives in Valencia with his wife, Shannon, and their 3 children.
