Community Soccer & FC Valencia

A partnership between FC Valencia and Community Soccer has been established to further enhance our mission of creating opportunities in soccer to our community as well as others. Community Soccer is based in the Black Hills of Western South Dakota, where the iconic monument Mt. Rushmore is located. The area survives mostly on tourism.

Poverty is wide-spread throughout the area. There are very few educational and athletic opportunities and no major universities or industries for a 300 mile radius. The area sees an extremely high High School drop-out rate, as well as an extremely high rate of youth delinquency. The ethnicity make-up of the area is mostly European and Native American. The area was originally inhabited by Native Americans, and later was settled by Europeans after gold was discovered there in the late 1800’s.

Creating this partnership provides athletes mentorship opportunities, and provides Community Soccer athletes the opportunity to participate in FC Valencia camps, clinics, and college recruiting events.

Together, FC Valencia and Community Soccer will work to extend our soccer outreach programs in both the Santa Clarita Valley as well as the Black Hills areas of South Dakota.

The Community Soccer mission is to institute a top-down approach to growing and strengthening the sport of soccer by focusing first on building quality soccer environments for older age groups and adults, thereby creating experienced soccer mentors to properly guide the generations after them.

“At Community Soccer, we strive to build an environment that is conducive to soccer, and a system that filters graduated youth back in as adults who have a genuine passion for the game and a genuine passion to pass along their soccer knowledge and skills.”

Fabiana Meredith, former W-League Player and Community Soccer Founder
