Congratulations to Luis Garcia Sosa

gs2SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Master’s College men’s soccer team continues to build its squad with the recent signing of Luis Garcia Sosa, a soon-to-be graduate of Valencia High School.

“I chose The Master’s College because I want to keep growing in Christ and to keep growing spiritually with people who will support me along the way” said Garcia Sosa. “I am looking forward to meeting new people and spending time with my friends, teammates, staff, and coaches. The small and loving community at TMC makes me feel very welcome and that is why I am excited to be a Mustang!”

Garcia Sosa joins the Mustangs with notable academic and athletic distinctions, which he earned during his time at Valencia High School, a Foothill League member.

Academically, Garcia Sosa received awards as a scholar-athlete, while earning a spot on the honor roll during his time in the classroom at Valencia.

Due to his performance on the pitch, Garcia Sosa was named first-team All-Foothill League and second-team All-SCV his junior year. As a senior, Garcia Sosa captained the Vikings, capping off his four years on varsity. Throughout his prep soccer career, Garcia Sosa competed for FC Valencia in SCDSL flight 1. Garcia Sosa also finished in a Top 3 position at the National Sueño MLS Competition, a Major League premier national tryout for top prospects. More recently, Garcia Sosa was named The Signal’s 2016 All-SCV Boys Soccer Player of The Year.

As he looks to his time as a Mustang, Garcia Sosa possesses a number of aspirations, whether on or off of the pitch.

“One of my goals at the collegiate level is to help The Master’s College achieve success, and to challenge myself to be the best player I can be so I can help the team,” commented Garcia Sosa. “Above all, my goal is to impact the team in a positive way both on and off the field.”

While not performing as an athlete, Garcia Sosa will major in Business Administration with plans to pursue a career in public relations.

Commenting on Garcia Sosa’s aspirations, TMC head coach Jim Rickard said, “Luis is an exceptional midfielder with fantastic touch and superb vision. He will provide an immediate spark to the offense with his creative play making. Each time we have met together, Luis has expressed his eagerness to grow in his faith while at TMC.”

Rickard plans to play Garcia Sosa as a midfielder.

In 2015, the Mustangs went 13-5-2 (6-3-1 GSAC) and look to build on those marks in 2016 with an experienced roster and a talented signing class.
