FC Valencia – Training Suspended effective March 13, 2020

Hello FC Valencia Players & Families,

We hope this finds everyone healthy and safe.

As many of you are by now aware, Cal South has suspended all activities through April 17, 2020, as a result of the ongoing and very serious concerns surrounding the COVID-19 coronavirus (see attached).  They are also recommending that all affiliates and clubs likewise follow suit for a few weeks with respect to all soccer related activities.  We also know that Coast Soccer League has suspended upcoming Spring League games up until April 18 and the USSF Development Academy has suspended its match schedules through April 30.

The safety of our players and families is our first priority and to that end, all FC Valencia teams will be suspended from all training until further notice. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it is our hope that we can resume training as soon as Monday, March 30 or Monday, April 6 depending on subsequent guidelines for closures, public safety, etc., that are announced by College of the Canyons, LA County and the City of Santa Clarita.  Schools have been closed and today, the City of Santa Clarita declared a State of Emergency, closing all City facilities for 14 days to non-essential activities and have postponed or cancelled many events through the end of April.  Unfortunately, everyone throughout our community will be limited with respect to all activities for some time to come.

In addition, we encourage you to refer to the following link from UCLA Health with comprehensive information that includes the most current updates and information related to COVID-19, safe practices, etc.  https://www.uclahealth.org/coronavirus.  I have attached an info-graphic on COVID-19 precautions, which can be printed and posted in your homes if you prefer.  We also plan to provide some at home training/conditioning information to help our young soccer stars stay up to speed during this “down” time.

Please pass this information on to your teams, families and to anyone who is trying out with our teams/forming teams as soon as possible —   we know that there is significant uncertainty into the future but our response as an organization and a community must be with public health and safety as a top priority.   If anyone has any questions at all or we can help in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out.  Together, we will get through this!
